Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Office Assistant serves as the first point of contact for the department and also has primary responsibility for maintaining student and enrollment records.

  • Provide support to faculty and manages the department’s web page.

  • Oversee scheduling for the department’s History and General Education offerings.

  • Assist the Office Manager with budgeting and disbursements.

  • Build Fall, Spring, and Summer schedules for the department – coordinating with other units, as necessary.

  • Perform inventory and ordering on a regular basis.

  • Assist the Office Manager with travel authorizations and reimbursements.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school, or completion of its equivalency, and two years of office/clerical work experience; or an equivalent combination of training/experience.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  • Associates Degree with at least two (2) years office experience is desired.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

  • Experience working in Higher Education is preferred.

  • Knowledge of MS (Word and Excel), and Google Suite strongly preferred.

  • The ability to work with very careful attention to detail and deadlines is essential.

  • Experience with Banner, and/or or similar University systems is desired.

  • Experience with problem solving, and resourcefulness, are a plus.

  • Ability to work independently, with a high level of professionalism, customer service orientation, and an understanding of confidentiality is strongly preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail.
