Job Description: AWS Vulnerability Management Specialist

Location: Irving TX

About the Role:

The Client is undergoing a significant transition from a private cloud

infrastructure to a public cloud environment using Amazon Web Services (AWS).

To ensure this migration meets all security policies and compliance

requirements, we are forming a dedicated team. We are seeking an experienced

AWS Vulnerability Management Specialist to join the team and play a crucial

role in safeguarding our cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vulnerability Assessment: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify, evaluate, and prioritize vulnerabilities in the AWS environment.

  • Compliance and Policy Adherence: Ensure that The Client's AWS infrastructure complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal security policies.

  • Risk Management: Develop and implement strategies to manage and mitigate identified vulnerabilities, reducing risk to an acceptable level.

  • Monitoring and Reporting: Continuously monitor the AWS environment for potential security threats and vulnerabilities. Generate detailed reports for stakeholders, highlighting vulnerabilities and recommended remediation actions.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cloud architects, IT operations, and development teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into the cloud infrastructure.

  • Incident Response: Assist in the development and execution of incident response plans specific to AWS. Provide expertise during security incidents to contain and remediate vulnerabilities.

  • Tools and Automation: Implement and manage security tools and automation scripts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of vulnerability management processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in information security with a focus on vulnerability management, specifically within AWS environments.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security Specialty, CISSP, CISM) are highly desirable.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, AWS Inspector), security information, and other relevant security tools.

  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of AWS services, cloud security best practices, and compliance frameworks such as CIS, NIST, and ISO 27001.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a financial services environment.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and integration of security into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Advanced certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
