Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The FM Tech Mechanical Trades performs under the direction of the Maintenance Operations HVAC Supervisor.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Responsible for performing routine maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.
Independently overhaul small reciprocal compressors, larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors.
Assist in diagnosing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalency.
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution preferred in HVAC or Engineering Technology.
Experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
E.P.A. 608 Refrigerant certification
Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required.
Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
Computer literate.
Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures.
Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
A valid driver’s license is required. The HVAC Shop position requires the operation of assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver’s license upon appointment to the position.
