REPORTS TO:         Assistant General Manager

SUPERVISES:           N/A

DEPARTMENT:      Independent Living Culinary Services

COMPANY:              MHS/The Overlook – Charlton Campus

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Server is responsible for performing established Steps of Service to ensure that each resident and guest receives both gracious and efficient service. The Server may hold one of four different hats of responsibility, on different shifts as assigned by their supervisor, when on shift on different shifts as assigned by their supervisor: Busser, Food Runner, Serving Tables, or Dishwasher.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are normal for this position.  This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Hold one of four different hats of responsibility, on different shifts as assigned by their supervisor, when on shift on different shifts as assigned by their supervisor: Busser, Food Runner, Serving Tables, Dishwasher, or Expediter.

  • Busser: Clear dirty tables, reset tables, address and maintain table and floor cleanliness to standards.

  • Food Runner: Run/deliver food from the kitchen to specific table destinations.

  • Serving Tables: Serve and tend to assigned tables.

  • Dishwashing

  • Perform established Steps of Service to ensure that each resident and guest receives gracious and efficient service.

  • Practice good time management skills to ensure efficient table turnover.

  • Handles and serves food in accordance with all HAACP guidelines and sanitation standards.

  • May operate cash register and point of sale software.

  • Other roles and responsible as assigned by the Dining Room Manager.

  • This position is an essential worker position. It is required candidates are available to work during inclement weather and other high priority events.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • No experience necessary.

  • High school diploma or GED - preferred

  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.

  • Desire to work with an older population in an Independent Living and Long-Term Care facility.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Work primarily indoors in a climate controlled setting.  Atmosphere may be warm for cooking.

  • Possible exposure to unpleasant odors.

  • Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual.

  • Possible exposure to infections, diseases and blood borne pathogens.

  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.

  • May be exposed to sudden heat and cold temperature changes in kitchen and storage areas.

The organization embraces its rich history and heritage, owning and managing 218 Independent Living Apartment Homes and Cottages, 28 Enhanced Care Private Suites, a 14- Suite Assisted Living Memory Care neighborhood, 27-unit Short-term Post-Acute Rehabilitation, 112-bed Long Term Care Skilled Nursing, as well as Home Health, Hospice, Palliative Care, Private Duty and Care Management divisions.

    The Overlook and its 3 subsidiaries are based in Charlton, MA, with satellite home health and hospice offices across the state. The organization employs approximately 600 talented and compassionate Team Members and serves 1,500+ Residents/Patients.
