Our Team:

In this dynamic role as Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager, you'll take the lead in coordinating HSE support across all Sanofi Consumer Healthcare (CHC) Chattanooga facilities.

You'll be at the forefront, championing compliance with HSE standards and regulations at local, state, federal, and company levels.

Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and updating the HSE Management System to ensure the health and safety of all employees, as well as ensuring protection of company physical assets and strict environmental compliance.

  • Develop and recommend methods to proactively minimize employee exposure to chemical materials, eliminate unsafe conditions, and control employee exposure for chemical, physical, and biological agents and promote injury-free workplace for plant operations; onsite contractors, and office/laboratory employees.

  • Responsible for identifying, defining, and implementing HSE related programs and strategies to achieve these objectives.

  • Responsible for employee training of HSE related subjects, incident investigations, working with department managers in the development and implementation of corrective action programs and preventative measures that support and build a strong proactive safety culture.

  • Leader for HSE support, providing leadership to subordinates and acting as a consultant and advisor to site leaders, interfacing with facility leadership daily.

  • Assist in defining HSE strategies and champion the goal of an "injury-free" workplace through establishing and implementing facility-wide tactical programs via a data-driven and analytical approach.

  • Proactively assess facilities and working environment to improve any deficiencies in HSE compliance and coordinate with other line and staff functions to provide a safer, more ergonomically and healthier workplace. Responsible for risk management activities to ensure operations are executed with an acceptable and understood level of risk.

  • Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day HSE concerns for plant-level functions and employees.

  • Requires excellent influencing skills as well as excellent observation skills and the ability to proactively identify and correct hazards.

  • Responsible for developing routine reporting for internal submittal and to authorities.

About you

  • BS or BA degree in related technical field required. Master’s degree, preferred.

  • 6+ years of experience in developing and implementing HSE programs in pharmaceutical, food, warehousing, or related manufacturing environments.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred.

  • Prior supervisory experience and demonstrated successes in a leadership role working within and team is essential.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have proven record for identifying, defining, and problem solving.

  • Must have a Servant leadership mindset.

  • Must have experience working collaboratively and cross functionally within a corporate environment.

  • Must have experience in OSHA PSM standards, NFPA standards for flammable and combustible liquids, and LOTO regulations.

  • Working knowledge of all OSHA and EPA regulations, NIOSH/OSHA PELs, IH test methods, confined space regulations, machine guarding, HazMat/emergency response, Behavior Based Safety programs, NFPA 70E compliance, hazardous waste, and wastewater management.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
