The Upstream Reporting & Analysis team is strategically placed alongside the controllers, exploration, development and operating finance teams to support the successful delivery of these projects within very dynamic operating, regulatory and commercial circumstances. This proximity to the projects provides Finance a distinctive view to deliver value through meaningful performance analysis and commercial insight.

This position has been structured, to drive targeted growth in the quality of support that FO R&A provides to Group and LOBs. Individual and team success in achieving this growth will be highly visible. More than ever, Finance is needed to contribute value by providing meaningful insights and continuous improvement focus.

What's the role?

This position will be responsible for Accounting of LNG business and it's reporting activities including support to BOFC submission etc. Incumbent will play a key role in ensuring high quality/timely deliver, driving collaboration and one-finance behaviors within the team. Works very closely with the Onshore Finance Team and Controllers to ensure alignment of goals, brings clarity in roles and responsibilities and end to end ownership.

Accountabilities :

• Responsible for review of critical and more complex deliverables, in the light of business intimacy and business context gained.

• Handle a variety of financial/business activities related to Month-end close and reporting od LNG business transactions. This includes Control operations, Accrual Analysis, Month close activities including Journals and Accruals.

• Take pride in delivering quality work and implement constructive improvement in processes. Be proactive, independent and resourceful in managing changes. Working with leaders and provide insights to business performance and being part of review calls.

• Assisting Finance in the Business in MIS preparation.

• Provide expert judgment, by way of thorough analysis on queries from management on Upstream issues.

• Provide management information and timely analysis on key financial and nonfinancial metrics. This will include corporate reporting and appropriate communication to the organization, including variance analysis, PNL and BS analysis.

• Formulate solutions, alternatives and recommendations over complex theoretical and practical accounting, financial systems, internal control, or other matters not covered by standard practice or precedent.

• Interpretation and understanding of changes in Group (IFRS) Accounting Policies, and its impact on in-scope activities.

• Keeping up-to-date with the changes to internal/local/global business model and environment with ability to translate impacts to in scope activities to effectively manage operational deliveries with no/minimal impact.

• Support to BOFC submission, manage all reporting requirements related to LNG operated by FO and External disclosures

• Administration of Shell’s Internal control framework and ensure achieve Operational Effectiveness of Key SOX and Non-SOX controls for Group Reporting activities and support Team’s compliance of Controls of Controllership activities especially related to LNG activities.

Dimensions:

This position will form the core of R&A Canada Controllership team and will be fully integrated with the local finance accounting and reporting teams offering a valuable opportunity to understand the complexities of the Upstream business and the opportunity to work with finance tools & systems that are used within Shell Upstream (SAP, Business Warehouse/BI etc).

Accurate and timely completion of the monthly closing cycle delivers financial results for all UA operations. Dimensions are all UA entities of Shell Canada and all UA Lines of Business within those entities Financial integrity and timeliness of Group reporting must be maintained for all entities. Competing priorities must be managed for all stakeholders. Stakeholders span many time zones.

What we need from you?

• Degree in Accounting/Finance, minimum 6+ years of finance

• Should be strong in accounting, analysis and reporting

• Good excel skill. Knowledge on Macros will be an added advantage.

• Possess excellent communications skills – both written and verbal.

• Aspiration to Learn, Adaptability to Change and Desire to Grow is mandatory.

• Experience in fixed asset accounting and reporting is preferred.

• Look beyond the scope of requests being made by being proactive, creative and pragmatic thinker

• Focus on Business Process Improvement with an ability to develop and enhance virtual working relationships with Business partners.

• Good knowledge of Financial and computer systems/applications (SAP).
