BorgWarner Inc. Engineer in Chennai, India

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Review new RFQ from assigned customer account and select suitable product design based on function, durability, and CAD packaging.

  • Lead interface with customer engineering personnel to review customer specific requirement and provide technical assistance/solution.

  • Develop and test prototypes, prepare DFEMA, validation plan, test procedure, engineering specification and test electrical/electronic system functionality along with its performance to determine technical feasibility to meeting customer requirement.

  • Able to research latest technologies and accordingly determine design parameters for electrical and electronics system

  • Review and recommend changes to existing designs to improve product quality in terms of performance and durability.

  • Handling electrical devices as power Analyzer, multimeter, DAQ and extracting data for performance analysis.

  • Understanding clutch functionality will be an added advantage.

  • Participate in warranty failure and analysis with customer to resolve or improve any application related concern.

  • Have good understanding of plant production and manufacturing design specifications is added advantage

  • Able to perform root cause analysis of design related issues and develop effective resolutions.

  • Should have passion to develop strong rapport with all Key customer accounts and get insight of latest vehicle technology and evolution of Industry.

  • Willingness to travel to customer location at any time to participate in Vehicle testing, Project specific discussion and warranty review across India.

  • Flexible to travel to other global BorgWarner location for short assignment and then return to India to apply the learning.

Job Requirements & Qualifications (Education & Experience)

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics/Electronics & communication/Mechatronics engineering qualification with experience of 5-7 years mainly in application engineering, product development, validation and testing in the automotive or commercial vehicle industry experien ce from Tier-1 automotive component industry

Required Skills

  • Experience in handling HV electrical, power electronic devices and IPEtornik / Agilent tool devices.

  • Experience in system integration skills in vehicle and components.

  • Experience in Electrical standards / Homologation certification.

  • Experience in handling actuators, sensors, and electronic components.

  • Experience with and knowledge of model-based software development (e.g. LabVIEW, MATLAB Simulink) is an added advantage.
