Job Summary

Unified Communications Engineering is seeking a QA automation engineer who is not just passionate about delivering quality products but also understands the direct impact of their work on our customer experience. As a QA SDET, you will leverage your test automation expertise to collaborate with other engineers in support of various customer-facing products. Your experience, knowledge, and skills in your own discipline will play a crucial role in shaping our customers' experience with our products. You will work as a part of a large team to determine work priorities. You will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. The role offers an exceptional learning opportunity allowing you to expand your skills and expertise working in a supportive environment alongside our cross-functional international team comprising architects, principal engineers, UX and Data specialists, UI and MW developers, Operation and QA engineers, software dev managers, project and program managers. An ideal candidate is detail-oriented with a strong background in test engineering and a dedication to delivering quality products. You will work in a collaborative environment, engaging with diverse teams across various projects. Your ability to develop comprehensive end-to-end test plans will be essential. Designing scalable test automation solutions that achieve thorough test coverage, prevent regression defects, and contribute to a reduced time to market is an integral part of this role. Candidates are expected to have practical experience with test integration of complex systems, including RESTful APIs, SQL queries, performance testing, and front-end cross-platform compatibility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing automation for industry-leading applications following the Comcast standards in an Agile environment.

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product/technical requirements.

  • Uses hands-on application automation testing experience to analyze complex stakeholder requirements, digest them into Agile user stories, and properly estimate their complexity.

  • Designs new  automation frameworks , supports applications under development, and customizes current applications. Assists in the roll-out of product releases.

  • Oversees the research, authoring, and editing of documentation, including development plans, test results, technical manuals, formal recommendations, and bi-weekly KPI reports.

  • Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive products. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the field of automation testing application design & development.

  • Provides technical leadership throughout the SDLC process with respect to practices, procedures, and techniques.

  • Serves as a mentor for junior QA Engineers.

  • Ensures key performance metrics are tracked and evaluated. Assures that applications are delivered on time and within specifications.

  • Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, development, and technical choices to internal audiences.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

    Core Requirements and Skills

  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in full engineering Quality Assurance lifecycle.   

  • Experience working in an agile environment with cross-functional teams.

  • Hands-on experience across the full test lifecycle: functional, integration, performance, and regression testing.

  • Proficiency in implementing and maintaining UI automation tools for web applications using Selenium and Cucumber.

  • Strong background in API testing using Postman, JMeter, or similar tools.

  • Skills in relational database testing and SQL.

  • Accessibility testing experience.

  • Strong ability to identify , document, and resolve defects efficiently.

  • Efficiency at multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and adhering to deadlines.

  • Experience mentoring junior QA engineers and providing technical guidance.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion in ambiguous settings.

  • Demonstrate initiative and follow-through on process improvements and enhancements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Participation in deployment activities and post-release test activities.

  • Mobile testing experience is a plus .

Core Responsibilities

  • Write automated test code, using the same standards as a Software Engineer, that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software, maintaining automation codebase in a version control system (GIT, SVN). May include creating simple SQL queries for validation of databases and / or writing SOAP and RESTful API automated scripts.

  • Create automated testing documentation, including Test Plans, Test Summary Reports etc.

  • Execute automated test scripts and presents results to team.

  • Analyze broken test cases and diagnose and repair to working order.

  • Perform code reviews of automation scripts and front-end codebases. Diagnose and repair simple bugs within production code.

  • Serve as a guide and mentor for junior-level engineers. Provides technical leadership and consultation with regards to practices, procedures and techniques.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary .
