Amentum Industrial HVAC Technician IV in Chesterfield, Missouri

Amentum is seeking an Industrial HVAC Technician IV to join our client site in the Greater St. Louis area

  • Typical work hours are day shift, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; hours may vary based on the requirements of critical business demand.

  • Pay Range: $35 - $38 hourly

The Industrial HVAC Technician is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

The Industrial HVAC Technician will perform many daily general duties, including:

  • The Industrial HVAC Technician is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

  • The Industrial HVAC Technician will perform many daily general duties, including:

  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing facility mechanical systems, facility HVAC equipment and systems, and pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems.

  • Conducting preventive maintenance inspections and performing required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and more.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing blowers and fans.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing heat exchange equipment.

  • Performing basic pipe-fitting repairs on water, compressed air, and steam lines.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing basic electrical issues.

  • Assists in the movement of machines/fixtures, materials, and equipment as required.

  • Performing preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and control and operating systems, as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Analyzing and resolving work problems, or assisting workers in solving work problems

  • Understanding company policies and enforcing safety regulations. Performing daily duties of the position in a safe manner by following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag-out procedures while wearing PPE as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Two years of experience as an HVAC maintenance technician in a pharmaceutical, medical, laboratory or related industrial grade environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • An active EPA Universal certification.

  • Ability to work in a highly regulated environment and diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHU’s, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, and more.

  • Strong mechanical skills learned through previous work experience and the ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to and including 480V.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of large building HVAC systems and their mechanical/electrical controls.

  • Ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.

  • Ability to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.

  • Ability to work overtime when required, including holidays and weekends.

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Some physical requirements include:

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs

  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding

  • Special Requirements: Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed. Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in HVAC, industrial mechanical, industrial electrical, or a related skilled trade, or equivalent training and/or experience.

  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, supply and exhaust fans, power transmission components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and more.

  • Experience performing pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and millwright related work.

  • Experience programming, troubleshooting and/or repairing HVAC with building automation systems (especially Honeywell/Siemens) in an industrial or research facility environment.

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Energy Management systems is a plus.

  • Knowledge of building automation system software supporting HVAC, water, steam, and power distribution (such as Honeywell and Siemens) is a plus.
