The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring a Senior Family Services Specialist - Child Protective Services (CPS) In-Home staff who will be responsible for the case management of In-Home and Family Support case types that are transferred from CPS Investigations and Family Assessment for continued monitoring for families experiencing abuse/neglect, provide prevention services to family and respond to referrals alleging child abuse/neglect in Chesterfield County and City of Colonial Heights.

  • Hold a caseload and complete monthly home visits for continued monitoring of children and families who have experienced abuse/neglect, address other identified needs/concerns and coordinate services or resources to assist, and monitor compliance with agency recommendatons
  • Work with staff who investigate abuse/neglect allegations or are continuing to monitor safety of children by asking families personal and/or difficult questions on how the children are being raised that contribute to their safety and well-being.
  • Engage and empower families to make positive change
  • Help customers connect with community resources to receive the services they need.
  • Provide support to children and families through cases that are transferred from CPS Investigations and Family Assessment for continued monitoring
  • Complete Child Protective Services Family Assessments
  • Complete all documentation through OASIS and/or COMPASS systems
  • Complete after-hours Child Protective Services on-call
  • Perform other work duties as assigned and/or based on agency need.
