JOB SUMMARY:

NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) to lead requirements activities on NORC projects. The incumbent will lead elicitation, analysis and documentation tasks for process, application, business requirements; support user interface efforts; and contribute to proposal development efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with project stakeholders and technical teams to develop requirements documents. Define acceptance criteria for requirements.

  • Provide requirements support, including clarification, for development and quality assurance team members.

  • Solve a range of more-complex problems; analyze possible solutions using standard procedures or new and innovative approaches.

  • Review and provide coaching on requirements documents and other project deliverables generated by business analysts.

  • Assist the Project Manager in resolution of issues that could impact the project's schedule, budget, resources, or quality.

  • Lead the research and resolution of production support issues.

  • Contributes to proposal work including the writing and editing of related business development text. Provide level of effort estimates for proposal work.

  • Builds knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers.

  • May lead or direct the work of others.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business analysis experience in Information Technology or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business information systems and process analysis.

  • Knowledge of structured requirements and specifications development for custom software and software built within existing application frameworks.

  • Data analysis and knowledge of XML and relational database design. Experience writing basic SQL statements.

  • Strong communications skills and ability to work effectively in an on-site consulting environment. Ability to write and communicate complex systems descriptions and specifications for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Self-starter who demonstrates curiosity and a willingness to experiment and innovate. Ability to seek information independently.

  • Experience with Agile projects, including creating user stories.

  • Ability to work under a moderate level of supervision and direction.

    Additional Qualifications Preferred

  • Prior hands-on background in software programming and data management, preferably in a data intensive environment, is a plus. IT consulting experience is a plus.

  • Experience with use case development.

  • Experience with Balsamiq for wireframes and prototyping, JIRA for task management and bug tracking, and Visio for process maps and flowcharts.

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional certification.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    The pay range for this position is $83,000 – $125,000.

    This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
