Job Description

Position Overview

As a Senior Director, Finance & Capital Markets, you will spearhead the development, refinement, and control of advanced financial models and analyze various investment structures. You will help lead capital raising activities and develop and maintain relationships with key strategic financing parties. You will work closely with other teams within Invenergy, including Renewable Development, Origination, Project Management, Asset Management, Accounting, Tax, and Legal. This position is located at Invenergy\'s corporate headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee buildout and maintenance of project financial models throughout a project\'s life cycle
  • Oversee and evaluate valuation models to analyze the economic merits and risks associated with different offtake opportunities.
  • Review offtake agreements and collaborate with internal origination and development teams to assess financing feasibility of new projects.
  • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to develop/refine key economic assumptions that impact project valuation/economics
  • Support decision making process throughout project life cycle by evaluating economic merits/risks in making key commercial decisions (eg. offtake evaluation, final investment decisions, financing structures, etc)
  • Lead project financing activities including debt, tax equity, and M&A transactions for renewable energy, battery storage, transmission, offshore, hydrogen, and other energy related technologies.
  • Coordinate internal and external tax and legal teams to develop appropriate transaction structures specifically related to tax incentivized financings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key strategic financing parties.
  • Oversee & mentor junior team members on financial modeling, due diligence and support of project financing.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant project finance or corporate finance experience, particularly in the power sector.
  • Proven experience leading, structuring, negotiating, and executing debt or equity transactions.
  • Experience in power generation, energy/utilities sector, or project finance.
  • Excellent financial modeling skills developing and managing complex financing models and the ability to oversee, analyze, and direct junior finance staff in modeling transactions.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and interpret financing agreements, energy hedges, and other project agreements.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
  • Understanding of tax-equity structures and partnership tax principles is highly preferred.
  • Excellent discretion in handling confidential information and in communicating with third parties.
  • Proven ability to handle high-pressure, time-sensitive deadlines typical of a transaction-based environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to concisely present information to senior management and third- arties on complex financial transactions.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to think quickly and implement creative solutions when problem solving.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
