Naval Air Systems Command ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in China Lake, California

Summary You will serve as a Range Safety Engineering Technician in the Ranges/Targets Ops/Instrumentation & Labs Group China Lake Ranges Dept/Range Operations Div/Safety Branch of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE. Responsibilities You will provide technical expertise in Explosive Safety for support of China Lake Ranges (CLR) ground events. You will Identify and analyze risks for ground operations/unexploded ordnance. You will provide day-to-day operations support to Range Safety Team members. You will provide ground operations and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) expertise/advice to test team during event planning. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To Qualify for the DT-04 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9/10) or pay band (DT-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1)leading teams in pursuit of safe test preparation and conduct; 2) interfacing with test managers, customers, and safety personnel; 3) providing decision-quality data to leadership; 4) Negotiating positive outcomes which supporting both customer goals and also satisfying safety policy; 5)Maintaining accurate records in support of explosive safety regulation and policy. To Qualify for the DT-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11/12) or pay band (DT-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1)Experience leading technical teams in pursuit of safe test preparation and conduct; 2) Interfacing directly on a daily basis with test managers, customers, and the greater DoD safety community; 3) providing decision-quality data to Range leadership; 4) Negotiating positive outcomes which support both customer goals and also satisfy safety policy; 5) generating and maintaining accurate records in support of explosive safety regulation and policy. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Basic Requirements: Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. Certification: Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Certification by the Institute will be helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience.
