The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center, Immunohematology Reference Laboratory is recruiting for a Clinical Lab Scientist 2 position, to assist with coordination of assignment and review of laboratory or product testing. The candidate will organize, execute and conduct clinical laboratory testing and/or product manufacturing. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities. This position will be assigned 3rd shift once training is complete. SIGN ON BONUS: up to $5,000 STARTING PAY RANGE: $29-34 hourly, based on experience SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: $4.12 hourly Essential Functions Provide continuity of services and resolutions for moderate to complex technical situations within the specialty. Assist in the provision of data for research and publications. Advise customers on methods and procedures to use. Provide technical explanations regarding results or products. Respond to other healthcare professionals' questions regarding results. Review and report testing, projects, and other assignments progress periodically as determined by the supervisor. Perform testing, interpret and record results. Perform quality control and proficiency testing. Communicate and report test results to external and internal customers. Clerically process incoming patient blood samples. Compose written case reports for hospital patient referrals, when appropriate. Prepare laboratory reagents. Develop and perform reagent evaluation studies and other special projects with supervisory review. Comply with cGMP requirements (in appropriate areas) regarding test interpretation and validity of results. Quarantine and discard blood products with positive test results, when appropriate. Maintain equipment and clean, safe work area. Assume on-call responsibilities as required. Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or other related biological science. Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Trainings/Certifications Some labs require MLT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), BB(ASCP), SBB(ASCP). Required Experience Two (2) years of relevant experience.
