Job Description

The Design Delivery Capability Manager:

The Design Delivery Capability Manager collaborates with Design (Design Manager and internal/external design agencies), Product Supply artwork team, and external partners (artwork production agencies, printers) on packaging artwork projects throughout the Design Development and Execution processes to ensure our Design Intent is consistently implemented across all product forms and variants at the First Moment of Truth. The Design Delivery Capability Manager will build capability through development, documentation and deployment of Global work system standards and providing leadership for innovation of the work system and delver organization design delivery mastery.

Important Responsibilities:

  • Ensure design intent realization by utilizing deep understanding of brand equity, design principles, supply chain fit-for-use requirements, pre-press, and print feasibility.

  • Manage projects within the Esko WebCenter graphics lifecycle management tool and ensure schedule synchronization across multiple project execution platforms.

  • Lead building design delivery capability through the development, documentation, and deployment of Global work system standards – work process and IT systems. Provide leadership for governance and innovation of the work system. Support mastery development of design delivery resources by providing training and training material and support for design delivery assessments.

  • Leverage mastery of WebCenter to provide technical support to other Design Delivery project managers and end users on the multi-functional project team.

  • Lead organization/company Design and Artwork technology transformation efforts from platform acceptance testing through organizational adoption.

  • Graphic/2D package design execution expert on multifunctional [internal & external] initiative teams, utilizing deep understanding of supply chain fit-for-use requirements, pre-press & printing, and print feasibility to ensure design intent realization. Responsible for executing with excellence.

  • Partner with pre-press & printers and global Design Delivery resources [when applicable] to assess print feasibility of design concepts, identify alternate solutions, plan & attend print trials, confirm final design intent print feasibility, ensure visual consistency delivered at shelf, and resolve quality issues.

  • Plan and manage design execution work and critical path schedule, own elevating issues, with implications, to key business partners at the right time to enable informed decision-making and effective resolution and drive on-time/on-quality artwork file delivery.

  • Independently and collaboratively bring innovative ideas/search & reapply learning that drive continual improvements in quality, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Proactively explore cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities. Able to accurately track all Design Delivery metrics on a quarterly/annual basis.

Job Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years Design Execution Work Experience.

Requirements (Skills / Experience) for the role:

  • Strong project and time management skills, experience leading multiple high complexity projects simultaneously, with attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Strong business communication planning and execution skills both verbal and written with the ability to collect, compile and present information effectively and concisely.

  • Strong collaboration and problem solving.

  • A strong understanding of the E2E design process: from design concept through design production.

  • Fundamental understanding of design, brand identity and design standards/guidelines.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Design Execution & Print (Design Agency, Pre-Press Agency, Production House, Printer) within the CPG industry (preferred).

  • Deep understanding of Esko WebCenter functionality; ability to train and provide end-user support for multiple cross-functional roles.

  • Strong experience in developing resource and organization systems, capability and mastery across design delivery.

  • Software fluency in the latest graphics, business, and AI programs: Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat); Microsoft (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel); ChatGPT (or similar)

  • Print Industry/Print Quality - Deep understanding of pre-press and printing and artwork file industry standards, print production, print processes, press capabilities, inks, materials/substrates, specialty inks/finishes, proofing, and print trials.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of artwork file construction and production, fit for use requirements, print process capabilities, substrates/finishes.

  • Understanding of color management, color development process, spectral color data and digital proofing. Munsell Test score of ‘Average Discrimination’ minimum, ‘Superior Discrimination’ (preferred).
