Division Director of Plant Operations

CommuniCare is currently looking to fill a key position, Division Director of Plant Operations for our facilities in Indiana and Southwest Ohio.

Position Summary:

The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations, maintenance, and safety of multiple facilities throughout the State of Indiana and Southwest Ohio (Greater Cincinnati area). This role demands a strong background in life safety, NFPA regulations, and OSHA standards and extensive experience in electrical, plumbing, construction, and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have robust organizational skills, a solid understanding of electronic systems including computer and telecommunications platforms, and proven experience in managing personnel, finances, and emergency situations. Prior experience in healthcare facilities management is essential to understand the unique challenges and pressures of the industry. Experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities/Long Term Care environment is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Life Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all facilities comply with life safety codes and standards.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and implementation of NFPA regulations and OSHA standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and drills to prepare for emergencies.

Facilities Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of electrical, plumbing, construction, and mechanical systems.

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and efficiency of facilities.

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repair and renovation projects.

Organizational Leadership:

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the plant operations team.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety within the department.

  • Manage staffing, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

Crisis Management:

  • Lead the response to emergency situations, ensuring the safety and security of all occupants.

  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans.

  • Evaluate and prioritize responses to crisis situations to minimize disruption and damage.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for plant operations.

  • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure financial efficiency.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety and quality.

Project Management:

  • Oversee multiple facilities and projects simultaneously.

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align projects with organizational goals.

Technical Expertise:

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of electronic systems, including computers and telecommunications.

  • Stay updated with the latest technology and platforms relevant to plant operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree for this position.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 5 years in a healthcare setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of life safety, NFPA, and OSHA regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing electrical, plumbing, construction, and mechanical systems.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Proven ability to manage people, finances, and emergency situations effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using electronic systems and platforms related to plant operations.

Work History Requirements:
