You'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability of aviation repair and maintenance through training and preparation. StandardAero is looking for Machinist Co-Ops to earn on the job training at our Cincinnati, OH Component Repair Shop. With skilled supervision to perform the following: Setup, programming, and operation on CNC horizontal/vertical lathes and mills Set up and run fixtures and parts on manual lathes and/or VTLs. Reads and interprets, blueprints, technical work instructions, specifications, and engine manuals in order to determine the machining sequences and operations to be performed Ability to set up a component for machining, including indicating, tramming, and restraining the work piece. Has a solid understanding of machining parameters for different alloy types and can interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Ability to use a variety of precision measurement equipment, such as calipers, gages, and micrometers to obtain dimensions down to +/- 0.0002" Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training programs. Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements. Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions. Carries out other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Current student enrolled in a Machining Vocational program Ability to use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted). Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident. Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods. Desired Characteristics High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision. Understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and processes. Strong mathematical aptitude. Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, reworks process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals and MSDS labels.
