Terrasmart Project Manager Internship - Fall 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio

Position Summary Terrasmart Project Manager Interns (Co-Ops) will be currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor or master's program in Construction (Project) Management or Engineering and conduct hands-on learning in all aspects of front-office Project Management from Sales and Estimating, to Engineering and Design, to Construction and Warranty. Terrasmart is an industry leader in design, engineering, manufacturing, and construction installation of utility-scale solar energy projects in some of the most inhospitable locations in the United States, powering entire towns, counties, and regions with renewable green energy. Terrasmart Project Managers lead the customer experience from end to end as the CEO of their project, managing and accountable to the budget, schedule, and quality delivery. Internship (Co-Op) Schedule In addition to daily Project Management tasking and experience, and unlike most Co-Op Internships, Terrasmart Co-Op Interns will be exposed to how the business operates and competes in the renewable energy market by receiving one on one focused training in each main segments of the business following a weekly schedule.

  • Week 1: Marketing and Human Resources - How Terrasmart markets itself in the industry, what the different products are, market share by product type, company history and vision, how the teams are structured, and how employees are engaged in a competitive labor market.
  • Week 2: Sales and Estimating - How Terrasmart identifies prospective customers, how products are pitched, how products and services are estimated and booked for order.
  • Week 3: Design and Engineering - How designers and engineers work together to tailor products to customer and site (location) specifications and solar module availability, how initial estimates are revised, and how engineers impact the final build.
  • Week 4: Legal - How contracts are built, how permitting is performed, how warranty and remediation services are contracted, and how risk is mitigated.
  • Week 5: Production and Logistics - How material is sourced, how materials and vendors are analyzed for quality, how parts are produced and shipped internationally.
  • Week 6: Capstone Presentation - Co-Op Intern(s) will individually present a unique problem to Project Management and potential solutions to the Executive Team concerning a topic of their choice.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)

Under the guidance of a Project Manager, demonstrate how to own and manage all aspects of projects, schedules, budgets, profitability, procedures, etc. through comprehensive project completion working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams for sales, legal, engineering and production.

Under the guidance of a Project Manager, demonstrate how to create a written workflow and manage project from RFQ through comprehensive completion and close out with document delivery to include submittal package of drawings, specifications, manuals, cut sheets and warranty.

Under the guidance of a Project Manager, demonstrate how to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to generate project efficiency and generate savings.
