About the Phoenix Lab The Phoenix lab is looking to hire a full-time research assistant. The research assistant will participate in everyday laboratory needs and assist in performing routine scientific experiments. Basic lab duties include maintaining inventory and ordering reagents, sterilizing lab material / tools, maintenance and organization of mouse colonies.Experience in lab techniques are a plus, but not required as training will be provided. Routine techniques include sterile cell culture, small animal/mouse handling and injection techniques, molecular biology (i.e. PCR), tissue sectioning and histology. Located in the UC James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, the Phoenix lab studies pediatric brain tumors, which are the leadcause of cancer related deaths in children. The lab investigates the mechanisms responsible for tumor development, and tests promising new therapies that may be translated into clinical trials. The research assistant will be a member of a research group and expected to support multiple research projects, collaboration with team members and help manage common needs.
