As we grow, we are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief in either Columbus, OH, Cincinnati, OH or Dayton, OH. Responsibilities The Survey Crew Chief will set-up and operate cutting edge equipment and instruments used at job sites to measure, record and calculate data for all types of survey projects including but not limited to: DOT topographic design and Right of Way mapping, Aeronautical Surveys, ALTA's, photo control and Lidar support. In addition, the Survey Technician will maintain close communications with the Phase Manager and Crew Coordinator, supply accurate field data, maintain field notes and files, and assist in the review of final drawings. Responsibilities: Operate and maintain cutting-edge survey hardware and software, including Trimble total stations and receivers, terrestrial scanners, up-to-date survey, design, and mapping software Follow required safety standards and guidelines Document written field notes and daily records Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys Perform calculations utilizing calculator or supplied data collectors Record the survey results and verify the accuracy of data with proper recorded field checks Transmit survey data results, which includes sending data to the home office from remote field locations Demonstrate professionalism while representing Woolpert on a given job site Complete field survey tasks accurately and efficiently Exercise good field method practice and proper care of everyday equipment. Requirements: 4+ years of experience using conventional, robotic, or related surveying equipment is preferred but not required. Candidates will be evaluated on personal initiative as well as experience. Prior experience using Trimble GPS and Survey Controller Required to have satisfactory results on a Motor Vehicle Record check and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be open to travel 75% or more to remote field locations, including overnight stays, as needed. Travel locations are not necessarily limited to the U.S. Per-Diem will be provided tax-free, based on the local GSA rates. Current United States Passport is highly preferred. Perform tasks and solve problems collaboratively with others. Ability to work extended hours, including some weekends Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain conditions Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
