Citi Markets Trading Risk & Control (TRC) is looking for an individual with Counterparty Credit Risk Exposure Monitoring experience within initiatives designed to enhance credit risk controls. In this Officer role, the candidate will be an integral part of a newly formed Intraday Control Team (ICT) within the 1st Line of Defense (1LoD) Credit Risk and Control function supporting Markets within the Institutional Clients Group organization.

The Markets TRC team is mandated to establish and maintain a robust 1LoD by leading critical control remediation efforts and control processes. The ICT is a global, business-aligned team established to provide intraday support to Markets Sales and Trading with the objective of preventing end-of-day credit limit breaches and proactively facilitating intraday pre-trade approvals and limit excess repair and minimizing disruption to client trading. ICT will help drive best practices and consistency by working with each business to develop a consistent approach to credit risk management, controls, and governance to drive targeted infrastructure and process enhancements.

In this role, the successful candidate will provide regional support as intraday coverage for this function expands and new technology enhancements are delivered to streamline intraday limit excess repair capabilities. The successful candidate will have a controls and counterparty credit risk background as well as experience in collaborating with Markets trading businesses, 2nd Line Credit Risk, and Operations/Technology.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Monitor intraday counterparty credit exposures against limits. Resolve credit excesses by investigating the situation, coordinating with Markets Sales and Trading and Credit Risk Managers to either implement a solution to allow the customer to continue to trade within risk appetite or stop trading.

  • Monitor the settlements exception queue for the respective asset class trading locations in the region. Investigate and advise operations on how to proceed with settlement and where necessary, facilitate credit approvals to proceed. The process is very time sensitive and must meet cut-off times for payment processing.

  • Support MI reporting and perform credit limit and exposure analytics.

  • Develop an understanding of the credit risk management policy with respect to credit limit and exposure processing.

  • Contribute to improvisation of the intraday credit control environment (infrastructure, processes, policy).

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in other functions within 1LoD and 2LoD.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or related domain.

  • 2-4 years of experience in financial services industry, preferably in corporate credit risk management.

  • Experience in a data quality, investigations or query resolution role.

  • High attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and deliver timely and accurate results with high quality customer service.

  • Excellent oral and written communication with a variety of senior stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and proficiency in quantitative abilities.

  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrate integrity and exercise sound decision making and problem-solving skills when working under tight timeframes in high volume environments.
