Novo Nordisk Project Manager 1 - FFEx - Finished Production in Clayton, North Carolina

About the Department

You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 50,000 employees.

FFEx is a newly established and growing area with the responsibility to design, plan, and build all new aseptic filling capacity across Novo Nordisk to serve the needs of millions of patients. We do it by rethinking our production facilities with the use of modern technology, as we are setting the standards for the aseptic production of the future. The Position

The Project Manager will lead the expansion of the Injectable Finished Products (IFP) production line, managing all aspects from design to installation, while interfacing with global teams to align standards and practices. Responsibilities include developing business cases, securing approvals, collaborating with design firms, and ensuring the project adheres to set timelines, scope, and budget. The role demands effective stakeholder communication and rigorous change control, with a keen focus on performance tracking against project KPIs. Ensuring safety and environmental compliance throughout the project lifecycle is essential.

Essential Functions

  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties

  • Responsible for ensuring project plan accomplishes time, quality, and cost objective

  • Responsible for adherence to mechanism for monitoring project progress, intervention and problem solving with other line managers or personnel

  • Responsible for information exchange

  • Responsible for communications to management and other pertinent units

  • Assist with any training required of personnel supporting the project

  • Ensure that installation, troubleshooting, qualification, and validation of equipment meets all commitments laid out by the overall project

  • Responsible for development and execution of projects identified as process needs and improvement opportunities

  • Other accountabilities as assigned

    Physical Requirements

    May move equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. May be required to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May required corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of experience & education required

  • Advanced Project Management competencies obtained through relevant PM training or experience preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in facility infrastructure as well as manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical environment preferred

  • Minimum 5 years proven project / portfolio management skills with major capital projects preferred

  • P&ID, HVAC, and Electrical systems. Understanding of complicated product documentation and standard operating procedures with attention to high-level concepts. Basic understanding of contractual documents and ability to create work plans and detailed project schedules. Computer literacy preferred

  • Proven project management experience with direct management of multiple projects simultaneously preferred

  • Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution, and revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams preferred

  • Initiative, ability to function independently preferred

  • Good judgment in decision making as well as very good leadership skills preferred

  • Functions well in team environment preferred
