Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District Industrial Maintenance Instructor (Mechanical) in Cleveland, Ohio

Description JOB SUMMARY Responsible for delivering formal and hands-on industrial maintenance training for the Sewer District. Works with the technical training team and other stakeholders to develop and instruct training program materials for novice, intermediate and advanced Sewer District tradespersons. Responsible for supervising trainees during specified training periods. Conducts continuing education courses for apprentices and Sewer District tradespersons. Organizes and prepares reports and records of all training activities. Maintains records of industrial maintenance training. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Industrial Maintenance Training - Establishes training objectives, develops training program materials and conducts hands-on training for utility maintenance personnel (apprentices), full craft maintenance employees and other Sewer District employees as part of the organization's maintenance training & continuing education programs. - Facilitates continuing education courses for apprentices and tradesperson employees. - Assigns trainees to execute troubleshooting. Observes methods used to complete a task and provides instructive feedback to identify errors and effective methodologies to successfully complete the tasks. - Conducts orientation for new apprentices. Introduces apprentices to the facility and provides an overview of the trade's maintenance department, the training program and the job duties and responsibilities of the program apprentices. - Coordinates on-the-job training (OJT) activities and formal classroom training. Provides tutoring to specific individuals on an as needed basis. Instructs others on proper adjustment and operation of a variety of testing instruments. Assists in identifying performance measures and evaluation of apprentice performance. ADDITIONAL TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES BY AREA OF EXPERTISE - Electrical: Installing, troubleshooting, analyzing, repairing, maintaining and calibrating electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic and microprocessor-based equipment, motor control centers, motor starters, controls loops, generators, high voltage substations, transformers, switchgear and other related equipment; calibration and minor fabrication; preventive and predictive maintenance programs; specific maintenance systems operating and maintenance procedures. - Instrumentation: Blueprint reading, turbines, installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and other recording, telemetering and instrumentation devices and equipment, motor control centers, motor starters, controls loops, generators, high voltage substations, transformers, switchgear and other related equipment. - Mechanical: Blueprint reading, pipefitting, welding, rigging, vibrations analysis/shaft alignment, centrifugal pumps, turbines, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, and boilers with an emphasis on hands-on training. Technical Training Needs - Works with the technical training team and stakeholders for the creation, development, revision and evaluation of technical training needs. - Defines learning objectives and identifies resources to meet those objectives. Develops and organizes training materials into a logical sequence and presentation format. - Evaluates training to ensure understanding through testing. Adjusts materials and training as needed. - Develops OJT curricula and identifies resources for the maintenance training program. Ensures consistent execution of OJT training program. - Participates in interviewing, identifying and reviewing selection assessments/tests.
