Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. IT Database Administrator in Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland-Cliffs is looking for an IT Infrastructure Database Administrator to join our Headquarters office in Cleveland, Ohio. The IT Infrastructure Database Administrator is responsible for designing, evaluating, monitoring, and maintaining the database systems hosted in various cloud and on-premise environments with minimal to no downtime. This role assists with implementing database strategies, planning, and building the database architecture based on functional specifications, and day-to-day support / troubleshooting. This position has expertise in database solutions (i.e. Oracle Cloud, Oracle Database, SQL Server, DB2, Linux, Windows, z/OS, Exadata, ODA, DataGuard, and various other technologies).

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Oracle Database and Linux administration and lifecycle management.

  • Designs, implements, recommends, and supports database standards, as well implement / maintain automated monitoring to ensure proactive handling of issues to minimize unplanned downtime.

  • Analyzes, designs, and implements cost-effective solutions to complex business problems according to user specifications.

  • Helps to develop and implement disaster recovery plans/procedures.

  • Develops migration strategies to close gaps between current and future states of infrastructure architectures.

  • Perform additional duties as directed by IT leadership.

  • Provide support for other team members as required.

  • Ability to respond to emergency service calls at any time outside of normally assigned work hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or an equivalent degree/years of experience.

  • Manufacturing industry experience is preferred; mining or steel experience is a plus.

  • 3-5 years of Oracle Database Administration.

  • Problem solving – some experience in a professional environment demonstrating the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Effectively able to diagnose/troubleshoot on various technologies.

  • Experience in a customer facing capacity and ability to communicate with and understand the needs of non-technical constituents, both internal and external.

  • Demonstrated experience working on projects, training, designing process solutions, and directly interacting with customers.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedure manuals.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.

  • Willingness to travel up to 10%, including international travel, and be flexible to work various hours to accommodate international business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in one or more of the following areas: Oracle Database, OCI Infrastructure, OCI Architect Associate or Professional

  • Oracle Database/LINUX administration and scripting experience.

  • 3-5 years of Microsoft SQL Server Administration

  • 3-5 years of DB2 Administration
