FIRST STATE BANK -- JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Mortgage Operations Specialist STATUS Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Residential Lending REPORTS TO: Residential Lending PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Mortgage Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of the mortgage process including underwriting, processing, closing and post closing. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the mortgage lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills and can adapt to different tasks and responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Underwriting -- Assist/Back-up underwriters in reviewing loan files/conditions with the ability to assess lending risks associated with each application. • Processing -- Assist/Back-up processors in reviewing and collecting conditions from customers. • Closing -- Assist/Back-up closers in preparing closing documentation as well as coordinating with title companies to confirm closing dates/times. • Post Closing -- Assist/Back-up post closers by reviewing, scanning, and delivering closed loans to various investors in a timely manner. • Lock Desk -- Assist/Backup lock desk reviews • Review and send out all initial mortgage application disclosures. • Review/confirm verbal verification of employment have been completed prior to closing • Communicate as necessary with customers to satisfy investor requirements for sold loans • Monitor/review all Balloon loans in the Bank's portfolio as maturity dates approach to determine if a refinance or extension is warranted • Block all wires for the funding and sales of mortgage transactions. • Underwrite/close all bridge loans and work with processors/loan officers to ensure they are closed in accordance with the contractual requirements of the customer's new purchase. • Provide notarization on closing documents where needed • Prepare and send wires for loan disbursement(s) • Create and maintain a courteous and professional relationship with co-workers while maintaining timely and prompt daily attendance OTHER DUTIES: • Assist in other areas of the department when needed • Other duties as assigned REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: • Five plus years related job experience • Customer service experience • Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously • Good attention to detail and confident ability to make decisions • Ability to work independently REQUIRED EDUCATION: • High school diploma or equivalency (GED) • Specialized training in computer operating systems, Microsoft Windows/Office and in bank technology WHAT CAN WE OFFER YOU: • Working with an energetic team focused on making our customers financially successful! • An opportunity to grow your career and do amazing things! • Collaborative and energetic work environment • Incentive program based on performance • Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays for Full Time/Part Time Employees • Paid time to support your community! • Health, Dental, Vision (Full Time) • 401K match and Life Insurance (Full Time /Part Time Employees) • Educational Assistance Program (Full Time/ Part Time Employees) • Employee Assistance Program WORKING CONDITIONS: • Office environment with little exposure to physical hazards or conditions • Ability to enter data into a computer and work with computer programs: Microsoft Word and Excel • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time • Ability to reach with hands and fingers, touching computer buttons/adding machine buttons for extended periods of time Employees are expected to comply with all laws, regulations, bank policies and proc
