Job Summary:

The Textile fabricator will be involved in fabricating thermal heat shields used on spacecraft and related support equipment. The temporary position is planned to start as a six-month requirement with the possibility of extending it for a total of one year. There is also a possibility for the position to be extended past one year.

Responsibilities:

• Textile fabrication (industrial sewing)
• Constructing multi-layer insulation pieces and other articles according to the specifications.
• Use and understand CAD files.
• Operate a ply cutter and other hand tools.
• Complies with industrial hygiene and safety standards and requirements in the workplace.
• Work under time constraints.
• Use different types of sewing machines.
• Work with technical leads providing design feedback.
• Communicate with technical leads to determine their specifications, needs, and preferences.
• Research materials, creating and submitting purchase requests.
• Use a computer to communicate and perform material research.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Sewing experience.
• Knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques.
• Hand-eye coordination. Communication skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Background and drug screening check.

Preferred Requirements:

• Mechanical proficiency.
• Experience with CNC based machines such as ply cutter, vinyl cutter laser cutter and cad files.
