Forward Air Inbound Clerk in Columbia, Maryland

Position: Inbound Clerk

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Responds to customer inquiries and maintain customer accounts according to specific guidelines and procedures

  • Research information to solve customer service problems

  • Track and trace all truckloads, rail, and air shipments

  • Schedule pickups for customers

  • Fax alerts to all agents and carriers

  • Scan proof of delivery into database

  • Call, email, or web search to request delivery appointments

  • Document and record monthly activities for period end reporting

  • Provide work coverage for other employees’ absences when necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • General understanding of excel functions and how to manage email rules within Microsoft Outlook

  • Knowledge of customer service practices and administrative procedures

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask

  • Proficient in the use of standard office software applications

  • Request delivery appointments and bill of landing

  • Schedule pickups for customers

  • Track and track all truckload, rail, and air shipments as needed

  • Document proof of delivery and delivery appointments along with all charges

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Exemplary customer service skills are required

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of warehouse management system SAP is a plus
