JPMorgan Chase Senior Manager of Software Engineering - Design System in Columbus, Ohio

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Employee Experience team, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities. Job responsibilities

  • Define, communicate and rationalize design standards and patterns for stakeholders to adopt the firm wide design system, working with Lead Architects, Engineering Leads, Product Managers and Design Leads across the organization

  • Lead engineering effort and work with Experience Leads and Designers on defining and building holistic ecosystem for tooling, governance, standards and practices

  • Partner with Senior Product Managers and Engineering Leads to bring forward a common design system to power external and internal customer journeys

  • Lead the transition of the current design system to the target-state across our engineering, experience, and designer teams; working with Senior leaders across the organization

  • Deliver on organizational vision and objectives with high quality and time to market.

  • Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks

  • Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and proc edure

  • Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders

  • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary

  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise

  • Innovative and creative leader with previous experience in developing large-scale platforms and design systems

  • Proven experience as Engineering Lead, hands-on Software Engineering Manager, or similar role

  • Experienced organizational leader, who is passionate about building effective and empowered teams

  • Strong business acumen and consumer-grade mindset

  • Extensive knowledge of the engineering best practices, technical design and product development lifecycle

  • Experience leading teams of technologists

  • Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives

  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent

  • In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems

  • Practical cloud native experience

  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working at code level
