Who will you be working with?

The Service Leader will manage the overall fleet performance in partnership with the Reliability Engineers, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and FPM to support any service and reliability-related topics, warranty claims, FMI execution, and inventory evaluation to support the fleet and our sales plan.

The Service Leader will directly manage Field Engineers (TAs) and craft labor supporting the Railroads aftermarket contractual commitments.

As a member of the Service team, you will be responsible for sustain the growth trajectory in the region, in this role, you will be critical to enhance customer relationships and influence/persuade new opportunities and business generation.

The Service Leader will coordinate all team efforts toward increasing the financial metrics (orders/sales/EBIT) in sync with the Sales, Product/Business Growth, Proposal, and Finance Teams.

What do we want to know about you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred

  • Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or leadership role

  • Must be able to travel about 50%-60% of the time

  • Must be able to read/write/speak fluent English

Desired Qualifications:

  • Be able to read/write/speak fluent English and Spanish

  • Experience in locomotive field services, supply chain, manufacturing, or maintenance positions. This role requires extensive locomotive product and technical knowledge from day one.

  • Successful previous leadership and/or manager roles

  • Experience in project management

  • Knowledge of locomotive service and customer operations

  • Demonstrated networking ability and influencing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver commitments on time

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, able to interface at all team levels - internally and externally

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Commitment to customer satisfaction

  • Sound technical expertise and analytical skills.

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt and Blackbelt certifications are a plus.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Manage internal and customer communication and reports regarding services-related topics (fleet reliability performance, warranty)

  • Own the Services orders (along with the Sales Team), sales, and EBIT (along with the Programs & OTR Team);

  • Provide recommendations and ensure inventory actions to support customer fleet and sales generation;

  • Provide recommendations to the Business Growth and Product Team to develop products and solutions aiming to support customer fleet and sales generation;

  • Mentor the Reliability Specialists team on the development of the reliability projects based on Methodology of Analysis and Solution of Problems, 6 Sigma, etc;

  • Network with Reliability, RM&D, Engineering, Fleet Management, Quality, and Supply Chain Teams to identify and drive solutions to reliability issues.

  • Coordinate field tests/programs (FTONs and FMI) with Reliability, FPM, Engineering, Service Leaders, and GLO Program Management team;

  • Provide direction and leadership to drive for process improvements across all functions involved in the delivery of service-related programs to the customer;

  • Be a champion of all aspects of service quality and technical delivery of projects;

  • Take a leadership role in the definition of elements and recommendations supporting the overall best interest of both the customer and the company.
