HR Generalist (Contract)

Position Summary

Under direct leadership, the Human Resource Generalist works to conduct the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources department including compliance, employee onboarding and offboarding, payroll, benefits administration, leave management, safety and workers’ compensation, HR record keeping, and reporting requirements in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”

For now, this is a contract position for 3 months, with possibility to extend.

This position is onsite everyday in Torrance, CA.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as first point of contact for employees for benefits eligibility, enrollment, and basic inquiries and problem resolution

  • Implements policies and procedures, audits records, drives compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices

  • Stays current with trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law and makes recommendations for programmatic changes

  • Maintains employee handbook and assists in development of personnel policies and procedures to create a compliant, efficient, and conflict-free work environment consistent with the culture of Singer

  • Assists in the creation of new employee job descriptions, creates offer letters, administers incentive plan programs, and ensures that job descriptions are current for all positions

  • Maintains and audits electronic and paper records to ensure information is accurate and up to date

  • Administers payroll for the Company in coordination with Accounting and Finance and ensures payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner

  • Administers onboarding and offboarding processes and paperwork, including orientation programs, and ensures that documentation and payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner

  • Administers all employee benefits programs, audits participation, and invoices and manages renewals and open enrollment

  • Prepares required daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and special reports, as requested, such as turnover, overtime, training costs, dismissal rates, compensation, and employee referrals

  • Administers employee leave, Americans with Disability Act, and Unemployment benefit programs and coordinates employee pay

  • Administers and manages the Workers’ Compensation program and coordinates workers’ compensation claims through final resolution and closure

  • Assists with performance management programs including employee reviews, disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations

  • Conducts exit interviews, identifies trends, and recommends changes for improvement

  • Assesses training needs to create, manage, and conduct employee and manager training programs

  • Ensures HR recordkeeping is compliant with required Singer standards

  • Responds to management, insurance, and regulatory inquiries and reporting requirements such as such as EEO-1 compliance, unemployment, audits, etc.

  • Edits and publishes employee newsletters and other employee communications

  • Provides guidance and direction to non-exempt HR staff members

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent experience

  • Four plus (4+) years of human resource management experience

  • In-depth knowledge of local, state and federal employment-related laws and regulations

Compensation

The starting salary range for this position is between $2653.84 - 3400.00 every two weeks. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training. No benefits will be provided during the contract period.
