The Graduate Student Application Specialist is responsible for evaluating and\ processing Graduate School admission applications and coordinates with\ students, faculty, and departmental administrators. This position is governed\ by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Student Application Specialist fulfills the following tasks:\ Assists students and faculty with the application process and curriculum\ questions through degree completion;\ Reviews and answers or prepares correspondence relating to university\ programs;\ Interprets university administrative directives, policies, and procedures to\ ensure consistent application;\ Provides information, assistance, and clarification to interested parties\ concerning institutional programs, policies, and procedures; and\ Assists with recruitment/marketing efforts.\ Some travel may be required along with performs other duties as assigned.

Work related knowledge, skills, and abilities to include, but not limited to the\ following:\ Knowledge of work-related subject area.\ Knowledge of computers and office productivity applications.\ Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and\ reports.\ Ability to research and analyze related work program information.\ Ability to develop, recommend, interpret, and apply policies and\ procedures.\ Ability to review and evaluate transcripts.\ Knowledge of the organization and administration of higher education.\ Knowledge of state, federal, and university rules, regulations, and\ procedures.\ Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.\ Ability to work collaboratively and independently with common goals as a\ part of a team.\ Ability to make sound judgments.\ Have effective interpersonal communication, writing, and organizational\ abilities.\ Able to remain a level of civility in all interactions and ability to demonstrate\ effective follow-up.

Required Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; bachelors degree,\ plus one year of specialized training in business management, business\ education, or a related field; plus three years of experience in specialized or\ a related field applicable to work performed. Additional requirements\ determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and\ approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED\ EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART\ OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE\ REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW\ COMMITTEE.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing\ Experience with Banner Student Information System
