Orbex is looking for a propulsion modelling engineer to join our team, supporting the development of our propulsion systems models and performing analysis on the large datasets produced in testing campaigns.

We are ideally looking for a propulsion modelling engineer with experience working on rocket engines or related fluid systems, this will be a great chance to develop propulsion models, compare them with experimental data, to influence our testing campaigns, learn from our team of experts and contribute to the launch of the Prime launch vehicle.

The Position

Essential

• 1 - 3 years experience in modelling of rocket engines, aero engines, plants, fluid systems, or subsystems thereof

• Working knowledge of compressible flows, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, and solid understanding of their first principles

• Scientific coding experience (Python, Matlab/Simulink, C, Fortran), ideally  implementing published models

• Educated to a degree level in engineering, physics, or similar

  Preferable

• Experience with EcosimPro/ESPSS

• Experience with experimental data, data analysis, and model verification

• In-depth knowledge of either turbomachinery aerothermal modelling, combustion processes, real fluids/cryogenic fluids, supersonic flows, two-phase flow

• Knowledge of state space modelling of physical system and/or control theory

• knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics

  Location

  This role is based in Copenhagen at Orbex’s Danish propulsion engineering and manufacturing site with significant time expected at our test site in Faxe.

  You will be spending time both at the factory and our nearby rocket engine testing site, with occasional travel to our main factory, test and launch sites in Scotland.

  Security

  You must be a UK or European citizen or from a country that is a signatory to the MTCR convention. You must be able to pass a basic security clearance.

• Salary of 35000 - 45000 DKK per month depending on experience.

• Our roles need to be on-site in Denmark due to the nature of the work as well as export controls and security, we are happy to sponsor visas for you and your family and provide relocation assistance as required which included funding the move and your first month in temporary accommodation so that you can explore the beautiful city of Copenhagen before choosing a place to settle down.
