British Swim School is a premier survival and stroke development swimming lessons provider in Canada and the U.S. As our new Aquatics Manager, your purpose will be to help us create a fun yet professional environment, providing our customers and their children with a great learning experience. You’ll work closely with the franchise owner and with our swim instructors to help shape our school’s culture and commitment to running a smooth operation. You’ll also play a big role in helping bring more customers to the school and keeping them coming back.

You will need to work flexible hours, including a regular weekend day and evenings. You will also need to be able to travel locally in the Tri-Cities and Langley area to visit all our pools. This role reports directly to the Franchise Business Owner.

Roles and Responsibilities:

● Hire, supervise, support, train, coach, develop, and retain a dynamic team of swim instructors

● Manage staff schedule of aquatics team including time off requests

● Ensure classes and training adhere to current company brand standards

● Ensure pool locations have proper inventory of supplies for lessons

● Ensure that all water and safety standards are maintained at the pools

● Teach the British Swim School program curriculum to children and adults as needed

● Offer guidance and support to team when managing difficult class situations

● Use BSS Instructor assessment and development tools/checklists to maintain lesson quality

● Assist with business growth by attracting new customers and retaining existing customers

● Attend appropriate ongoing training locally and with corporate

● Other responsibilities as assigned by the Franchise Business Owner

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • A track record in the world of swimming and fitness teaching/management – A specialist aquatics qualification is desirable but not required

  • Experience working with children and a passion for our mission of water safety and survival

  • Enthusiastic, assertive personality with strong relationship and customer service skills

  • Effective and influential leadership in a fun environment built on trust

  • Disciplined to follow and enforce schedules, company policies and enforce safety procedures based on Franchise expectations

  • Ability to lead, supervise, train and coach associates, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, analysis, and strategic planning

  • A Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Canadian Red Cross Lifeguard certification or the ability to renew this

  • CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification

  • Successful completion of aquatics leadership training through British Swim School Corporate

Compensation: $26.00 per hour

While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary-aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.

We also have exciting opportunities with our Customer Service Team, even if you're not in the pool. These are the people committed to providing the best service in the industry. In these roles, you might talk to parents on the phone or by the pool.
