The incumbent follows through with procedures to ensure that each case is properly presented to the Solid Waste hearing board, as well as, maintaining records relating to violations. The incumbent has responsibility to ensure that disposal of recycled and solid waste conforms to agreements between the County and the hauler as well as Cortland County’s local law. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Solid Waste Management and the Superintendent of Highways. Supervision over the work of others is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. Work Hours: Per Diem, no benefitsSalary: $30.00/hrLocation: Cortland County Solid WasteStatus: PJCMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of full-time, or its part-time equivalent, experience: (a) inspecting buildings, solid waste, construction sites, public safety, landfills, transfer stations or related sites, for compliance to codes, laws and/or regulations, or (b) as a code enforcement officer, or (c) in law enforcement. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Candidates must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License at the time of appointment and maintenance of said license for the duration of appointment.Pre-employment screenings required.
