As a Software Engineer , you will be joining the Simulation Technologies & Infrastructure Chapter in the Software Engineering department. You will be responsible for undertaking tasks as directed associated with configuring, customising, testing. maintaining, supporting, modifying and developing the Diagnostics Systems on our flight training simulators. You will be working independently as part of a wider multi-skilled team and allocated specific tasks in line with project schedules.

Day to day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
Software configuration, customisation, testing, maintenance, support, modification and development
Analysis of hardware systems and associated interfaces
Support of Integration, Validation and Verification activities on simulators
Support of Software Baseline Management activities
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications :
First-hand experience of software engineering activities in a commercial environment
Ability to extract information from technical documentation such as schematic diagrams and OEM programming manuals
A proven aptitude for problem solving
Ability to read & write technical English
Self-motivated and able to work with a minimal level of supervision
Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors
Team player, open minded, proactive in moving the company forward
Displays energy, drive, agility, and resilience in achieving work-related goals
Flexibility in working hours as required to meet project needs
Able to work effectively when under pressure
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications :
Basic experience of the C programming language syntax and constructs (the diagnostics system uses a proprietary software tool that was developed in-house, this tool uses a programming language that is similar to C; please note that this is not a C programmer / developer role)
Basic experience of Perl scripting (the diagnostics system also uses Perl scripts)
Experience of use of software configuration management systems such as Git
Awareness of flight simulator hardware systems and diagnostics tools
Experience of the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Jira Service Desk, BitBucket, Confluence, etc)
Able to work on customer sites, typically overseas for periods of up to 2 weeks
Qualification and educational requirements:
A suitable degree or equivalent (with mathematics, science or engineering content) or a minimum 2 years appropriate experience in industry.
