Apply for Job Job ID361599 LocationCrookston Job FamilyStudent Services Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8462SF Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Financial Aid Processing (35%): Researches and remains current on university, state, federal, and outside agency rules and regulations to ensure operations are in compliance Recommend policy and procedural changes, develop and implement business processes that meet compliance requirements Thoroughly research and respond to time-sensitive issues Accurately compare and correct FAFSA application data based on submitted tax documents as outlined and required in the federal verification policies and procedures. Use professional judgment to review verification records for parents and students Process parent credit check requests Review and analyze citizenship verifications Evaluates and analyzes financial information submitted by applicants to determine eligibility for financial assistance and to determine type and amount of aid to be awarded in accordance with established federal, state, and university standards and guidelines Coordinate financial aid notification (FAN) processing and one term financial aid awarding Identify and problem-solve unusual award packages and financial aid records Assist in planning, developing, and implementing processes and procedures to accurately award students' financial aid for the academic year and for students who are attending less than a full year Counsel and Advise students and parents and University departments via initiated or received phone call, emails, or scheduled appointments (in person or via Zoom) (25%): Counsel students on a variety of issues to include eligibility for aid, loan options, debt management, and in-depth program-specific questions. Provide start-to-finish student service using professional judgment and individual discretion in both simple and complex financial aid issues with minimal supervisory guidance. Offer proactive and on-the-spot, independent diagnostic support and problem resolution on a broad range of areas and issues. Serve as a functional expert to staff on issues related to areas of responsibility, including identifying issues, making recommendations, and analyzing and testing data Represent the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships at students registration functions and outreach events Minnesota State Programs (30%): Manages and oversees all aspects of the Minnesota programs including application processing and maintenance of student grant awards. This includes: MN State Grant, MN Dream Act, MN Indian Scholarship Program, MN GI Bill, MN Postsecondary Childcare Grant, MN Student Teacher Grant, Northstar Promise Program, American Indian Scholars Program, and MN Fostering Independence Grant. Recommends policy and procedural changes. Assists with the development and implementation for business processes that meets state compliance requirements Monitor reports to ensure compliance and to accomplish account and program reconciliation Perform routine year-end reporting and reconciliation Other (10%): Complete electronic 19 processing of student employees Supervises the departments work study student(s) and America Read students Campus Content Writer for the OneStop website, manages Facebook account, and all departmental forms Identify and attend training sessions that are needed to ensure knowledgeable and accurate job performance Qualifications BA/BS degree plus at least two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience to equal at least six years.
