Summary About the position: This position is located at the Shepherd's Rest Inn, RAF Croughton. Work required: Lifting and carrying supplies, materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching turning and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs, and standing for extended periods of time. *This is a drug testing designation position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Responsibilities Periodically inspects buildings, facilities and grounds to determine need for repair work. Report's findings to supervisor or Civil Engineering (CE) as applicable. Maintains maintenance records (log) on all facilities. Construct, install, or repair items. Plan, measure, and lay out materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications. Performs minor plumbing repairs/tasks such as but not limited to, tightening of loose taps, clears blocked shower drains, descaling shower heads, replacement of worn faucets, etc. Provide preventative maintenance on all appliances as requested. Reports all appliance faults to the Community leadership. Makes minor electrical repairs by replacing fixtures, switches, sockets, stove burners, electrical cords, bulbs and fluorescent fixtures. Paints and patches walls as needed throughout the facility. Manages expendable and nonexpendable supply. Establishes and maintains minimum stock levels of all expendable supplies and amenities. Performs pickup and delivery of supplies, amenities, and equipment. Determines quantities required and timely stock replenishment. Informs Community leadership when items need to be ordered. Perform landscaping duties as required and assist with furniture shifting as directed. Waters lawns, cuts grass and trims greenery around buildings and maintains grass and flower beds; fertilizes lawns and shrubs. Operate a motor vehicle. Operate up to 1-ton capacity transit panel van or estate wagon to perform duties as assigned. Maintains vehicle interior/exterior cleanliness as well as checks fluid and tire pressures. Completes trip tickets. Keeps preventative maintenance records. Fills out driver accident reports in case of an accident. Must maintain valid driver's license, training/certification, and GOV license as required to operate vehicle. Required to perform On-Call duties as rostered. When in On-Call status, must return to work within 30 minutes to assist customer, unless able to assist over the phone. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between the US and the UK, British citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, they may be eligible to apply for local national positions on base. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Qualifying Experience (MUST BE SUPPORTED IN RESUME): Applicant must have experience in performing a variety of minor or routine maintenance. The experience may have been gained in similar or closely related work of the position; for example, experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical etc. Individual must be able to lift and carry objects weighting up to 50lbs, heavier items are moved with equipment or with the assistance of other workers. Must be able to actively walk, stand, push, bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions. Individual must be able to operate hand tools (powered and non-powered). Must be able to read, write and speak English and communicate effectively. Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to satisfactory complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to work uncommon tour of duty. Must be maintain a valid driver's license. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required.
