The leadership role is responsible for overseeing a team of underwriting managers and supporting business development. Here are some of the primary duties and responsibilities:
Team Oversight: Direct and manage the underwriting staff across multiple locations, including all human resource functions such as interviewing, selecting, training, and performance appraisal.
Policy and Strategy: Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.
Performance Monitoring: Implement continual improvements within the underwriting department and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
Decision Making: Review, approve, and oversee underwriting cases with significant financial risk and company visibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Sales, Customer Service, Compliance, Actuarial, and Claims to ensure cohesive operations.
Qualifictations:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in life underwriting.
At least 2+ years' experience in underwriting management or leadership.
Experience in data analysis and reporting is also important.
Certifications: Completion of LOMA 280/281 and 290/291 courses, with active progress towards AALU and FLMI designations.
Professional Designations: AALU/FALU or FLMI designations are preferred.
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $72.00/hr.
