  • This job is a member of the Ground Aviation Safety Action Program (GSAP). The program is a voluntarily safety reporting program. If you are looking to make a difference and have an opportunity to elevate safety in ground airport operations, this is the position for you. This position will be responsible for leading the GSAP by ensuring safety information is evaluated to identify potential risks and opportunities, performs risk and root cause analysis, interfaces with subject matter experts (SME) to identify causal factors, escapes, and evaluates current processes and procedures for effectiveness. The Manager is responsible for engaging all stakeholders on the benefits of the program, sharing insight on risk in the operation and partnering to enhance safety. The role will be responsible for ensuring senior leadership is informed on the progress of the program and awareness when support is needed.

  • Collaboration and relationships are critical to the success of this role. Collaboration with operational leaders, operational team members, union representatives, supporting departments, other ASAPs (e.g. Flight, Flight Service, Maintenance, Customer Care, Dispatch, etc.) and other operating departments.

What you'll do

  • Engages stakeholders on lessons learned, safety risk and safety risk mitigation

  • Collects & categorizes information concerning GSAP reports prior to the Event Review Committee (ERC) meeting. This includes, but is not limited to, communicating with other departments, supporting the ERC with their report evaluation, categorization, and disposition.

  • Identifies & Analyzes safety and compliance trends and concerns arising from the GSAP including preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports. The ability to tell the data story is essential.

  • Creates ERC agendas for weekly meetings

  • Facilitates and maintains ERC meeting minutes, attendance, and action items.

  • Cultivates effective partnerships with various departments, FAA and labor union members of the ERC for information sharing and corrective actions.

  • Develops safety & compliance materials including posters and power point presentations to represent the department in meetings as required

  • Interfaces with other GSAP teams sharing, analyzing, and reporting information

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience in airport ground operations

  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS)

  • Bachelor's Degree, or aviation related field or equivalent experience in airport ground operations

  • 5+ years’ experience in aviation industry

  • Experience in metrics, development of dashboards and data analysis

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must be able to perform his/her duties under strict confidentiality guidelines.

  • Ability to travel (50%)

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience in the use CERS and WBAT or similar complex database system

  • Knowledge of company policies and safety procedures

  • Leadership experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Experience in metrics, development of dashboards and data analysis

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must be able to perform his/her duties under strict confidentiality guidelines.

  • Ability to travel (50%)
