This job is a member of the Finance Team within the Finance Division.
Responsible for leading the day-to-day functions for the Company’s fuel accounting process.
What you'll do
Oversees the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual supporting schedules for responsible accounting functions
Reviews journal vouchers, monthly support schedules and general ledger account reconciliations
Supervises the day-to-day activities associated with areas of responsibility
Researches new/revised accounting requirements and work with peers to incorporate them into schedules, reports, and monthly procedures
Coordinates activities to ensure internal/external auditors requests are completed
Ensures integrity of relevant financial system modules and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ensures that accounting functions are Sarbanes Oxley compliant
Provides guidance on accounting issues to business groups of the company as needed
Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes, procedures and accounting assumptions on an ongoing basis
Recommends and assists in process improvements to improve the control environment and increase the utilization of resources (people, technology, funds)
Develops and maintains documentation for business and system processes for assigned responsibilities
Represents the department in meetings and through written and verbal communication with internal and external customers
Performs a variety of other functions/ad-hoc projects as assigned to aid in the department’s/company’s achievement of goals and business objectives
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience/training
Professional certification (CPA) required
5 years of professional accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Manager experience preferred
SAP general ledger and Hyperion Financial Management reporting tool preferred
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to work on projects and prioritize and execute concurrent assignments
Demonstrated experience using innovative thinking ability with high degree of motivation and problem solving skills required
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply technical accounting literature
Demonstrated ability to design effective controls over financial reporting
Flexible/adaptable to constant change and scheduling needs to meet deadlines
Good working knowledge of mainframe accounting/reporting systems
Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to consistently meet deadlines
