Overview

Principal Cloud Engineer role is responsible to create strategic Cloud Platforms with empowered teams and adaptive mindsets. You will implement leading cloud native and multi-cloud platforms implementing Infrastructure-as-Code, Kubernetes, and Zero Trust architecture. You'll apply Site Reliability Engineering to create resilient and scalable platforms. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and enhance overall system architecture. You'll keep pace with leading Cloud, Containerization, Kubernetes and Cloud Engineering skills as you further specialize.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and management of cloud-based solutions, including infrastructure as code (IaC) initiatives using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.

  • You will take part in the entire cycle of Cloud Platform engineering, CloudOps and development from architecture, hands-on implementation, documentation and support.

  • Develop and implement cloud architecture best practices to optimize performance, cost, and security, with expertise in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Collaborate with software development teams to integrate cloud services and support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, utilizing containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of cloud environments using monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana or cloud native options to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to all cloud engineers and other team members, demonstrating a strong understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and best practices for cloud security.

  • Fostering a culture of “automation-first” among the team members. Lead automation efforts to simplify the processes of provisioning, deployment, configuration management, and monitoring.

  • Evaluate new cloud technologies and tools to enhance our capabilities and drive innovation, staying updated with the latest industry trends and advancements.

  • When needed will lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts related to cloud infrastructure issues, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and present technical solutions in a clear and understandable manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology field

  • Proven experience 9+ years working in a similar role, with a focus on cloud infrastructure design and management.

  • Strong proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Experience designing cloud architectures with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation

  • Working Experience on designing and implementing full stack/Microservice infrastructure using IaC best practices

  • Understanding of secure software development methodologies and Code First mindset

  • Strong working knowledge of the CI/CD process including debugging, test, and integration of software tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.

  • High level of expertise with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana) for cloud environments.

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and best practices for cloud security.

  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Lead and drive collaboration closely with other SGWS teams, including software development, DevSecOps, data engineering, Infrastructure engineering teams, and IT support operations, to ensure seamless integration of cloud services with other systems.
