Our Revenue Controller is responsible for overseeing financial aspects related to real estate projects, with a focus on month-end close, Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), Equity Method Accounting, and coordination of the annual audit process. The ideal candidate will possess 8 plus years of experience, a CPA certification, and a proven track record in navigating the unique challenges of accounting for real estate in a publicly traded environment.

What You’ll Do:

Revenue Recognition (ASC 606):

  • Key individual to assess ASC 606 to revenue recognition for real estate sales and development activities within the regulatory framework of publicly traded companies.

  • Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition.

Equity Method Accounting for Real Estate Investments in Publicly Traded Setting:

  • Oversee Equity Method Accounting for real estate investments, ensuring accurate recording and reporting in accordance with both GAAP and SEC regulations.

Month-End Close:

  • Support the month-end close process, ensuring adherence to strict timelines and compliance with SEC reporting standards.

  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts specific to real estate development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accurately account for project-specific financial transactions.

Internal Controls and Process Improvement:

  • Implement and monitor internal controls related to financial reporting processes.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting activities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA certification strongly preferred.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles within the Real Estate Development sector and publicly traded companies.

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and real estate accounting principles.

  • Proven experience in coordinating annual audits for publicly traded entities.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.

  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal project teams, external auditors, and senior management within a publicly traded environment.
