Job Description:

JOB TITLE: Senior System Engineer

JOB LOCATION: 208 S. Akard Street Dallas, TX 75202 [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home]

DUTIES: Translate core architecture of business requirements into the final technical solution consisting of platform, network, software, and cloud solutions. Design, develop, document, and analyze the overall architecture of systems. Ensure End-to-end delivery. Identify tech debt and reduce it as part of Scrum deliverables. Decompose business features into tech user stories. Utilize functional, performance, and reliability analysis. Develop software throughout the vertical stack and define designs. Provide technical enablement for application components and subsystems for applications. Drive important design decisions for development teams. Elaborate on the design and interface of specific components. Define subsystems and their interfaces, allocate responsibilities to subsystems, understand solution deployment, and communicate requirements for interactions with a solution context. Align development teams to a shared technical direction and partner with those teams in elaborating the solution and its interfaces. Validate technology assumptions and evaluate implementation alternatives. Establish critical NFRs at the solution level and participate in the definition of others. Create and enable continuous delivery pipelines including participating in the planning, definition, and high-level design of system solutions and exploring alternatives. Develop architectural runway in support of new business features and capabilities. Work with portfolio stakeholders and solution and enterprise architects to develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of enablers. Participate in project planning, system and solution demos, and retrospective workshops. Understand the technical characteristics of and assist with architectural integration of external components, systems, and platforms. Highlight issues, risks, and limitations for present and future deliverables. Design scalable systems per requirements and consider the traffic and load on the system. Design APIs using microservices architecture to support micro deployment design. Implement flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, and workflow for APIs. Follow code quality standards according to Sonar quality checks. Implement Mockito test cases for integration level sanity. Review test cases to ensure that unit test plans covers all conditions provided in program specifications. Code deployments to environments using Jenkins, Tomcat, Docker, and Kubernetes. Monitor applications with Dynatrace, EFK, and Splunk.

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience in a related occupation utilizing functional, performance, and reliability analysis; developing software throughout the vertical stack and defining designs; elaborating on the design and interface of specific components; defining subsystems and their interfaces, allocating responsibilities to subsystems, understanding solution deployment, and communicating requirements for interactions with a solution context; validating technology assumptions and evaluating implementation alternatives; establishing critical NFRs at the solution level and participating in the definition of others; creating and enabling continuous delivery pipelines including participating in the planning, definition, and high-level design of system solutions and exploring alternatives; developing architectural runway in support of new business features and capabilities; participating in project planning, system and solution demos, and retrospective workshops; understanding the technical characteristics of and assisting with the architectural integration of external components, systems, and platforms; implementing flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, and workflow for APIs; following code quality standards according to Sonar quality checks; implementing Mockito test cases for integration level sanity; coding deployments to environments using Jenkins, Tomcat, Docker, and Kubernetes; and monitoring applications with Dynatrace, EFK, and Splunk.
