About the Role:

Given the role of the US dollar and payment systems, the Federal Reserve System seeks to further understand the implications, costs, and benefits of the use of different technologies for the future of money and payments. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class team working on cutting edge technologies related to digital money and payments including tokenization, application of smart contracts, central bank digital currency (CBDC), and advanced cryptography. You will participate in a dynamic work environment that has the feel of a startup while also maintaining the benefits of a larger organization.

Senior software engineers work under the guidance of senior team members, operating under a clear framework of accountability with substantial autonomy. The successful candidate will develop a strong domain knowledge of the relevant business area/s, managing key responsibilities to include requirement analysis, code, test, debug, document, implement and maintain software solutions.

You Will:

  • Architect and implement front-end, mid-tier integration and backend functionality (full-stack).

  • Write clean, readable, and highly maintainable code in Python, Go and JavaScript/TypeScript including documentation, peer code reviews, unit, integration and system tests.

  • Demonstrate significant experience with common Continuous Integration and Deployment tools, Docker, React, RESTful API design (FastAPI) and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tools.

  • Participate as part of an agile squad with Engineering and Product teams to develop proofs of concept and prototypes for new areas of research and development.

  • Evaluate business needs, translate them into technical requirements, and document artifacts accordingly.

  • Participate in end-to-end implementation of large-scale software development projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

  • Demonstrate strong expertise in cloud core technologies and stay updated with emerging trends in software engineering.

You Have:

  • Demonstrated experience contributing across multiple development stacks, areas and technologies.

  • Familiarity with CICD practices and tools like GitLab for version control and deployment.

  • Hands-on experience working in Agile framework environments.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and transfer knowledge to other team members.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
