We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary Sr. Principal Algorithm Systems Engineer to join our Radar Sensor Systems (RSS) Engineering Team, which is part of Raytheon’s Naval Power group. In this role, you will be in an advisory and mentoring capacity on an as needed basis to support AAS Algorithm Engineering.

As the Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, you will work with the AAS Algorithm Engineering program team to develop, implement in real-time, test and verify signal and image processing algorithms and work with Raytheon, customer, and industry partner teams to improve existing algorithms and develop new algorithms to support program goals.

What You Will Do

  • Mentor and train up to five Early in Career engineers on real-time algorithm implementation in the AAS software environment

  • Code reviews

  • Flight data analysis and report reviews

  • Tech Refresh reviews

  • Program resource for questions and help needed

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience in the following areas: Real-Time Radar Signal Processing Algorithms, Metrics and Models

  • Understanding of radar mode algorithms to train and develop Engineering talent

  • Experience in High Performance Computing and understanding of SW development process

  • Experience mentoring and providing direction to junior engineers

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • This position requires access to export-controlled Technical Information, hardware, software, and/or services that is restricted to U.S. Citizens

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Previous AAS experience including algorithm development, implementation, testing and verification

  • Leads a culture of trust, transparency, compliance, diversity, inclusion, and accountability

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written, verbal, and presentation), including the ability to communicate effectively with Program Management, Engineering Leadership, and Sr. level internal & external stakeholders

  • Ability to effectively multi-task activities & promptly close priority actions

  • Promotes a culture of continuous learning, improvement, & mentorship

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

This is a temporary position of an undetermined length.
