Position Overview

The Philadelphia Commercial Product Design team is seeking a motivated and creative d esigner to join our team of commercial flooring design ers , collaborate closely with cross-functional internal and external teams , and partner with local and g lobal vendors .

Reporting to the Philadelphia Commercial Senior Design Manager , the Hard Surface & Soft Surface Designer will support the design team in ident if y ing trends and develop ing innovative product concepts that translate into manufactured hard surfac e and soft surface flooring solutions for commercial spaces . This person will understand flooring materials and design principles to support the design process for products that resonate with the brand ethos and consumer and market trends. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an entry-level designer to gain hands-on experience and grow within a dynamic design environment .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design research and creat ion of visuals for hard surface and soft surface products in alignment with the brand strategy and multi-year product plan

  • Assist in the design and colorations of hard surface and soft surface flooring visuals from concept to completion, including the concept design phase, continuing t hrough the development and manufacturing phases, as well as supporting the development of marketing materials

  • Collaborate with vendors to bridge the design and manufacturing processes , ensur ing key deliverables are completed on time and on budget

  • Manage own workflow, prioritizing projects to align with brand initiatives and market launch schedules

  • Assist with present ation and communicat ion of the product design vision and product offerings to customers, sales teams, and management

  • Position requires the ability to work globally on occasion, traveling internationally to work with vendors and attend trade shows in Asia and Europe, as well as domestic travel

  • Ability to successfully navigate ambiguity

  • Ability to work and influence cross functionally with Marketing, Innovation, Product Development, and external/international partners & vendors.

  • Assist with market research in color and design trends, create product presentations, engage in customer feedback sessions, and partic ipate in trade shows to keep the brand at the forefront of innovation and consumer preferences

  • Participate in customer interactions such as customer tours, focus groups, and other product presentations

  • Demonstrate a creative approach to all tasks with the ability to manage multiple projects using excellent time management skills

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, creativity, and open communication among team members

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners, representing Philadelphia Commercial’s design expertise and capabilities

  • Lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to excellence, professionalism, and continuous improvement

  • This position reports to the Senior Design Manager – Philadelphia Commercial

    Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree and/or advanced degree in a design-related field

  • Must have Photoshop skills. NedGraphics Texcelle and/or AVA CAD/CAM skills are desired

  • Experience with mainstreet brands is preferred and will be an important part of the position

  • K nowledge of flooring materials, color and design principles

  • Strong collaborative leadership abilities

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to work globally

    Position level and title is based upon experience of the selected candidate:

    Associate Designer (Level 5) : Four -year college degree and/or advanced degree in a Design related field with 0 - 2 years' work experience as a designer.

    Designer (Level 6) : Four -year college degree and/or advanced degree in a Design related field with 2 - 5 years of relevant work experience as a designer.

    Senior Designer (Level 7) : Four -year college degree and/or advanced degree in Design related field with over 5 years of work experience in hard surface flooring product design . The senior designer can take a product from concept to completion with minimal guidance

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
