Summary:

Clinical physician providing care in the office and hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care: Provides for the delivery of patient care through ongoing assessment with identification of pertinent problems and needs.

2.1

Collects and documents information pertinent to patient�s chief complaint and history. Performs and documents complete physical examinations including ordering, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests and examinations.

2.2

Diagnoses and treats both chronic and episodic disorders and provides age and gender appropriate preventive care.

2.3

Establishes and documents plan of care and, when appropriate, seeks advice of supervising physician or makes referrals.

2.4

Assesses the appropriateness of plan of care and resource utilization.

2.5

Uses prescriptive authority, procedures, referrals, treatments and therapies in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.

2.6

Maintains accurate, complete, consistent and timely clinical documentation, inclusive of planned care and actions taken, and in accordance with professional standards.

2.7

Responds to patient telephone messages, concerns and inquiries in a timely fashion.

2.8

Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of patient care.

2.9

Provides full spectrum obstetrical care within scope of practice including schedule of on call responsibilities as determined by needs of practice and management.

Equipment: Utilizes equipment in a safe, therapeutic and cost-effective manner.

3.1

Utilizes available equipment appropriately and effectively.

3.2

Reports malfunctions and other potentially hazardous situations as they arise.

3.3

Utilizes office equipment appropriately.

3.4

Participates and supports the implementation and use of electronic medical record (EMR)

3.5

Utilizes computer/EMR tablet as needed in a competent and professional manner. Attends training, as required, to utilize and master skills needed for use of EMR and other software.

Critical Thinking: Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and initiates clinical decision making.

4.1 Demonstrates critical thinking skills in regard to problem-solving and utilizes appropriate resources.

4.2 Develops and implements treatment plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain desired outcomes.

4.3 Evaluates care outcomes.

4.4 Develops a teaching and care plan based on documented patient/caregiver learningneeds, chronological maturation, emotional status and cognitive ability.

Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices in the health care field.

5.1

Maintains professional growth and development through in-services, seminars, conferences, workshops and professional affiliations. Maintains required CME and certification.

5.2

Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.

5.3

Establishes and maintains communication and utilizes teaching opportunities with patients and staff.

5.4

Shares knowledge and provides leadership in the practice setting and the profession. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.

5.5

Contributes to the growth and development of the midwifery team, staff and students through participation in peer review, mentor relationships, formal and informal education.

Other Information:

  • At least five years of clinical experience

  • Prior experience working in a multidisciplinary team

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
