YOUR ROLE

  • Be a technical leader and innovative thinker in hair product formulations and support launch activities.

  • Leads key tasks such as supporting product initiatives and business strategy to completion and independently develops products or technologies, which meet product performance, quality, and timing requirements.

  • Develops technical models to explain and predict results and demonstrates an ability to plan, perform, analyze, and draw conclusions from complex technical experiments. Presents technical findings to upper management.

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of marketplace, products, and trends, and participates in the development of future competitive strategies.

  • Makes decisions and sets priorities according to strategic plan.

  • Promptly reports major issues or unexpected results as soon as identified.

  • Communicates complex ideas in a clear, simple manner that captures people's attention (e.g., graphics, pictures, analogies, concrete examples).

  • Has high tolerance for uncertainty; enjoys working in fluid environments that demand creativity.

  • Is flexible and willing to change his/her mind in the face of new data or convincing counter-arguments.

  • Participates in pilot and first production batches and writes detailed descriptions of batching procedures to ensure batch reproducibility. Handles formulation and manufacturing issues for new and existing products.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic industry regulations related to on-going projects and engages in acquiring more knowledge regarding regulations affecting product development in international markets.

  • Coaches and mentors junior department members in the art of cosmetic and consumer science or equivalent.

  • Conducts patent searches on project related technologies, summarize and review search results with supervisor.

  • Assists in the maintenance of laboratory raw materials, glassware, supplies and waste removal.

  • Communicates effectively and routinely with supervisor and, as needed, colleagues on all projects.

  • Gains a working knowledge of laboratory equipment utilized to evaluate the physical and performance attributes of various product types.

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and tidy laboratory and cubicle workspace.

YOUR SKILLS

  • Background in developing, formulating hair or skin care products is required.

  • Minimum of a BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field, 2-5 years experience working in formulations lab and performing quality testing procedures.

  • Project management experience is preferred.

  • Must have knowledge of technical information of hair care formulations.

  • Ability to effectively translate technical into non-technical communication.

  • Ability to be both creative and process oriented in support of driving innovation and execution.

  • Self-motivated, organized, and ability to prioritize workload.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills are necessary.

  • Strong presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills are critical.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills.

  • Ability to travel 15 % of time.

The salary for this role is $80,000.00 - $95,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
