Conagra HACCP Coordinator in Darien, Wisconsin

Job Summary

Maintains the ingredient spec system. Coordinates vendor information and processes requested queries and reports. Assists in workflow and process improvements. Provides training to department staff on process equipment, document storage and systems. The quality assurance Ingredient Inspector is responsible for ensuring ingredients used in this production facility meet the requirements outlined in the ingredient specification. As a quality assurance professional, he or she is involved in all aspects of quality and food safety including but not limited to audits, HACCP program evaluation, GMP training, sanitation evaluation, insect and rodent control, working with operations personnel on quality and food safety issues, inspecting returned and incoming products, customer complaints, implementing policies and procedures. Performs other support functions as assigned within the department.

Position Responsibilities

  • Monitor incoming ingredients for compliance to specifications.

  • Collect data of physical attribute information on incoming ingredients.

  • Communicate with Logistics on incoming ingredient delivery schedule and required testing based on product risk category and specification requirements.

  • Coordinate sample collection for microbiological and chemical analysis.

  • Communicate and follow-up of vendor failures to meet specification requirements through use of ICIX system.

  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality on questionable ingredient disposition and vendor follow-up.

  • Manage raw material hold list for incoming ingredients and/or ingredients identified during production as needing to be placed on hold.

  • Communicate and coordinate disposition of ingredients on hold with Logistics.

  • Document ingredient noncompliance with digital pictures if necessary for clarification.

  • Coordinate of Supplier COAs with ingredient loads.

  • Responsible for weekly production area audits and providing feedback to area supervisors.

  • Manage material verification program.

  • Assist management in adhering to plant’s Kosher program.

  • Provide training to employees on basic GMPs, HACCP and job specific food safety procedures.

  • Assist the Quality and Food Safety Manager/Supervisors as needed.

Position Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Food Industry.

  • Thorough knowledge of Good Sanitation Practices (GSPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

  • Computer knowledge to include Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to read and comprehend product specifications and testing procedures.

  • Ability to professionally communicate to all levels of employees and suppliers through oral, written and presentation methods.

  • Ability to work the scheduled/assigned shifts and required overtime as needed.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
