Job Number: R0194478 Aerostructural Design and Analysis Engineer Key Role: Make extensive use of knowledge, training, and experience to provide guidance, comment, review, and management assistance in the design, development, fabrication and test of aerospace structures.Lead teams of engineers in the design and development of novel aircraft structures, propulsion units, and guidance and control subsystems. Provide analysis of aerospace specifications and performance requirements to determine optimal designs. Evaluate new technologies for application in improving the design of aerospace systems. Perform standard risk assessment of aerospace systems and analyze the generation of risk mitigation plans and strategies. Design composite aerostructures and make recommendations for new fabrication techniques and process improvements to exploit design characteristics.Recommend certification and test measures, develop test plans and configurations supporting test execution, implement and support test activities, and analyze and document the test results.Communicate complex structural design ideas to colleagues and clients with different technical backgrounds by using a variety of techniques, such as analogies and diagrams to enhance understanding. Basic Qualifications: 2+ years of experience with aerostructural design and analysis Experience with finite element methods and aerostructural lifecycle analysis tools, such as Altair, PATRAN/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or ANSYS Experience using design software, including MATLAB, AUTOCAD, UG, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Pro-Engineer Experience with aircraft structural layout and sizing and aerostructural design using composite materials Experience in composite fabrication, assembly and test Knowledge of manufacturing and design techniques, procedures and practices Ability to obtain a security clearance Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Additional Qualifications: Experience with design and analysis of carbon fiber reinforced polymers, glass fiber reinforced plastics, discontinuous fiber composites, or ceramic matrix and high temperature composites Experience setting up and using optimization frameworks for aerospace vehicle conceptual and preliminary design, including sizing, layout, and system configurations using a multidisciplinary analysis and design approach Secret clearance Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
